A few family members and I went on a trip to Florida. I thought it would be a great idea to go horseback riding! We have never done this before. I tried to convince everyone how much fun it would be and booked our reservations. There were 6 of us going but 2 backed out at the last minute and I planned to be the third one because when we got to the place, there was a sign in big bold print saying, ‘WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR…’ and it began listing all these possible scenarios of what might go wrong on this ride including death!!!

So, like any chicken who didn’t want to ride a horse – (hello, have you ever seen a chicken on horse? No!! ) I changed my mind. I told my family that I am not going…you can all have a great time

But then my aunt says to me, “The kids can’t go if you don’t go. I looked at my 2 little cousins’ faces and caved in.

I agreed to go on the ride after all.

I took what seemed like the longest walk ever to get on the horse and off we went. I became a prayer warrior in 5 minutes. As I got on the horse, I prayed. When the horse would not go where I needed it to go, and everyone is telling me to kick him harder, I said, “no way”, and just prayed: “Lord, you know this horse. You knew him before he was in his mother’s womb…” I kept on praying while everyone was yelling at me to kick the horse as I was causing ‘horse traffic.

All of a sudden, I had all the patience in the world! I sat on that horse until he decided to move.

But then I got this revelation! Maybe everyone yelling at me was right…the horse won’t move unless I kick him! I had the power to move the horse in my hands and feet! Why didn’t I want to kick?! Fear! Hello!!??!

Sometimes this is our problem. We sit and wait for changes to come into our lives, when sometimes all we have to do is get up and move! Sometimes we are WAITING for an opportunity instead of LOOKING for the opportunities.
